Grandma's Recipe
When Marie moved to a new apartment, she found an old notebook in a box. On the cover, in blue ink, it said: “Recipes — Grandma Rose.”
She opened it carefully. The pages smelled of cinnamon. On the first page was the recipe for the apple cake her grandmother made every Sunday.
Marie decided to bake it that same evening. She needed four apples, three eggs, two hundred grams of flour, one hundred grams of sugar and a little butter.
She mixed the eggs and the sugar, added the flour and the melted butter, and cut the apples into thin slices. Soon the kitchen smelled like her childhood.
But when the cake came out of the oven, something was wrong. It was good, but it was not Grandma's cake. Something was missing.
Marie read the recipe again and again. Then she noticed a tiny note at the bottom of the page, almost invisible: “Don't forget the secret — page 32.”
On page 32 there was only one line: “A spoonful of honey and a pinch of love. And always share the cake with someone.”
The next Sunday, Marie baked the cake again, this time with honey. Then she knocked on her new neighbor's door, holding the warm cake in her hands.
