The New Neighbor

On Saturday morning, a big white truck stops in front of Leo's building. Two men open the back and start to carry boxes, chairs and a green sofa.

Leo lives on the third floor. From his window, he sees a woman and a little girl. The girl is holding a box with holes in the top.

In the afternoon, someone knocks on his door. It is the woman from the truck. “Hi, I'm Nina, your new neighbor. Sorry, do you have a screwdriver?”

Leo finds his toolbox and goes with her. Her apartment is full of boxes. Nothing is in its place yet, and the bed is still in pieces on the floor.

Together, they put the bed together. The little girl, Bia, watches them and asks a lot of questions. “Do you have a dog? Do you like pizza? Where is the park?”

Leo laughs. “No dog, yes pizza, and the park is at the end of the street, next to the bakery.” Bia smiles and opens the box with holes. Inside, there is a small gray rabbit.

In the evening, Nina knocks again. This time she has a pizza in her hands. “Thank you for your help. Do you want to have dinner with us?”

They eat on the floor, between the boxes, because the table is not ready yet. Leo thinks it is the best dinner of the month.
